PATS SUDDENLY STRONG IN MIDDLE.(Sports)

The Albany Patroons said hello to Dave Popson Tuesday morning. Later, they said goodbye to two players and finalized their Continental Basketball Association roster.

Popson, who spent last season with the Boston Celtics, will in all likelihood be the Pats' starting center when they open the season Friday night against the Sioux Falls Skyforce at 7:35 at Knickerbocker Arena.

"He'll help us right away," said Albany coach Charley Rosen following Tuesday afternoon's practice at the Knick.
