NSW: Man detected travelling three times speed limit in west Syd

SYDNEY, Aug 13 AAP - A young man allegedly clocked driving at almost three times the
speed limit in Sydney's west will appear in court today.

Police said the green Ford Falcon XR8 was caught doing 160km/h in a 60km/h zone on
Cleopatra Drive, Rosemeadow , just before 2am (AEST) today.

When the car was stopped, the 21-year-old driver from Raby ran off but was arrested
after a short chase.

Charged with drive vehicle recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, he was refused
bail and will appear before Parramatta Bail Court today.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old Gorokan man has had his licence suspended after he was caught
allegedly speeding at almost twice the legal limit on the NSW central coast.

Police said they detected a Holden Commodore utility allegedly travelling at 158km/h
in an 80km/h zone as it exited the F3 ramp to Sparkes Road, Warnervale, at 4.20pm (AEST).

The driver had his licence suspended and was also issued with a traffic infringement notice.
